Eau De Timberlake

It's dollars and scents for Justin Timberlake. The full-time pop star, part-time clothing designer and occasional actor inked a deal last week to be the face of Parfums Givenchy's new men's fragrance, set to launch in the autumn.

The deal should raise the cachet and earnings of the stylish star, who raked in $20 million last year, placing him 34th on Forbes' list of the 100 Most Powerful Celebrities.

How much will Timberlake earn from smiling for the cameras? LVMH, which owns Givenchy, hasn't disclosed the terms of their deal.

However, a number of top-rank celebrities have earned over $10 million for signing on as a spokesmodel. Angelina Jolie took home a reported $12 million in a three-year-deal with clothing label St. John, while Gwyneth Paltrow reportedly earns $3 million per year shilling for Estée Lauder.

In a statement last week, Alain Lorenzo, president and CEO of Parfums Givenchy, said that they chose JT for his innate style. "He is a world-recognized trendsetter who redefines modern elegance."

Modern elegance aside, the conglomerate is hoping to give its good-smelling sector yet another financial boost with a big-name star like Timberlake. Unlike many areas of retail, the premium fragrance industry is booming. LVMH's perfume and cosmetics brands logged a profit of 256 million euros in 2007, a 15% increase from the previous year.

Beyond the fragrance deal, Timberlake is also making his mark in fashion. His well-received clothing label, William Rast, is bringing out a women's line for the fall. It debuted in mid-February at Project Las Vegas, a biannual denim trade show.

Timberlake is following in the steps of mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, whose fashion line and fragrance collections have achieved both critical and financial success. In 2006, Sean John Unforgivable--Combs' signature scent--brought $74.9 million in sales to parent company Estée Lauder, making it the best-selling celebrity scent that year.

And like Diddy before him, the 27-year-old entertainer wants to make it as an actor. He recently signed on to star in the film "The Open Road," playing a member of a minor league baseball team, the Hooks of Corpus Christi, Texas, alongside veteran actors Jeff Bridges and Mary Steenburgen.

Would Timberlake's minor league baseball player be caught dead wearing Givenchy? Probably not. But the quintuple-threat is sure hoping his fans will spray away.

Justin Timberlake: Next Hooks Star

CORPUS CHRISTI – Move over Brandon Backe. Move over Hunter Pence. Move over Jeff Bagwell. A new star will soon wear the Hooks uniform.

Justin Timberlake dons the Hooks home whites when he portrays Corpus Christi player Carlton Garrett in the upcoming movie, The Open Road.

Timberlake joins veterans Jeff Bridges and Academy Award winner Mary Steenburgen in Michael Meredith's independent film project. Kate Mara, who starred in Brokeback Mountain and We Are Marshall, is Timberlake's love interest.

Timberlake's character attempts to reconnect with his father, a legendary athlete played by Bridges. The two struggle along a journey home to the bedside of Garrett's ailing mother.

The 27-year-old Timberlake, who rose to fame with boy band 'N Sync, has captured six Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards and an Emmy. In 2002, he released his debut solo album, Justified, which sold over 7 million copies worldwide. 2006's FutureSex/Love Sounds generated six Top 20 hits, making Timberlake the first to accomplish that feat since Michael Jackson did so with Dangerous in 1991-92.

The Open Road is Timberlake's 10th film. Earlier credits include Model Behavior (2000), On the Line (2001), Edison Force (2005), Alpha Dog (2006), Shrek the Third (voice 2007) and Southland Tales (2007). The Love Guru is scheduled for release June 20.

Over the last four decades, Bridges, 58, has appeared in over 60 films.

"We are pleased, honored and excited about Justin's portrayal of a Hooks player in The Open Road," team president J.J. Gottsch said. "Obviously, it's a nice exposure opportunity for the franchise and we look forward to assisting in any way possible."

Said Meredith: "I'm a fifth-generation Texan, so having the honor of working with J.J. and the Hooks, and having the support of a Lone Star legend like Mr. (Nolan) Ryan… well, I consider myself pretty fortunate."

Meredith, producer Jordan Foley and Gottsch first discussed the project in the fall of 2006. Over the last few weeks, Hooks staff members have assisted Meredith's team with research compilation.

Production of The Open Road begins today in Louisiana.

Justin Timberlake Reportedly To Propose To Jessica Biel

Justin Timberlake reportedly plans to propose to girlfriend Jessica Biel.

The 'SexyBack' singer and Biel have been dating for over a year. Timberlake was seen shopping for engagement rings at the New York jewelry store, Tiffany and Co.

Timberlake and Biel have been reluctant to speak openly about their relationship.

Biel recently said she and Timberlake prefer snuggling up with the board game Scrabble than going out drinking and dancing.

Biel said, "We do a lot of dinner parties and we play board games. I absolutely love Scrabble."

When 26-year-old Timberlake appeared on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show', he refused to talk about 25-year-old Biel, saying, "I'm dating someone but all I can tell you is she smells lovely."

Justin Plays Dress Up

Uh oh. Has Justin Timberlake gotten himself involved in another wardrobe malfunction?

The usually dapper singer (who won two Grammys last Sunday) donned a curly brown wig, giant glasses, and a Thriller-era Michael Jackson jacket for a video shoot with Gnarls Barkley today.

The look (which is just one moustache shy of Weird Al in the "Eat It" video) hardly approaches the inspired hideousness of JT's Color Me Badd-inspired "[Blank] in a Box" ensemble. And yet, somehow, we still doubt that girlfriend Jessica Biel will be requesting to see it again anytime soon.

Timberlake agrees new film deal

Justin Timberlake is to star opposite Jeff Bridges and Mary Steenburgen in a new drama called 'The Open Road'.
Variety reports that the film tells the story of a young man trying to repair his relationship with his legendary athlete father as he tries to make his way home to see his seriously ill mother.

The Michael Meredith-directed and written film is due to begin shooting in Louisiana and other southern US states this month.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Justin Timberlake's burgeoning acting career is to continue with a starring role in upcoming drama 'The Open Road'.

The FutureSex star is to appear alongside Jeff Bridges and Mary Steenburgen in Michael Meredith's film, set to begin shooting in Louisiana later this month according to Variety.

Written and directed by Meredith, the independent film tells of a young man (Timberlake) heading home to reconnect with his legendary athlete father (Bridges) and to tend to his ailing mother (Steenburgen).

Brokeback Mountain actress Kate Mara is to play Timberlake's girlfriend in the film, which will be produced by Meredith, Justin Moore-Lewy, Charles Mason, David Schiff, Jordan Foley and Laurie Fox.

Acclaimed German director Wim Wenders has been confirmed as a visual consultant on the film, aiding cinematographer Yaron Orbach.

The movie will also be Meredith's directorial debut, having co-written Wenders' 2004 drama Land of Plenty.

Timberlake has already appeared in Southland Tales and Black Snake Moan and earned critical acclaim for his supporting role in Alpha Dog.

He will be starring as athlete Jacques Grande in Mike Myers' upcoming comedy 'The Love Guru'.

Timberlake's character steals the wife of rival hockey player Darren Roanoke (Romany Malco) with the latter then moved to hire the eponymous svengali (Myers) to sooth his romantic woes.

Justin Timberlake's William Rast: Tennessee By Way Of The Big City

NEW YORK - Justin Timberlake is trying to take sexy forward.

Timberlake presented a fall collection of his William Rast line Tuesday night at a cocktail party at New York Fashion Week, expanding beyond his current denim line.

Wearing a leather jacket and a black scarf, Timberlake described the new collection as "high-class, urban couture meets Americana old South." Utilitarian, military-inspired jackets for women were given feminine curves and kimono-style leather belts.

The overall look was deconstructed prep-school - the models would have been at home on the set of "Gossip Girl." They stood on risers in a downtown triplex apartment in front of party-goers including Russell Simmons, "Top Chef" host Padma Lakshmi, NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon and Duran Duran's Simon LeBon and Nick Rhodes.

The collection blends influences from Timberlake's roots in Tennessee and his life now in Hollywood - with the help of Swedish designer Johan Lindeberg and his Italian wife, Marcella.

"I've been wearing a lot of Johan's stuff anyway," Timberlake said, including suits, vests and golf gear from the J. Lindeberg line.

To start their collaboration, Lindeberg asked Timberlake to send digital images that reflect his taste and lifestyle. Timberlake sent pictures of guitars, landscapes, furniture and his studio.

"I really wanted to keep the rhythm that Justin has," Lindeberg said. "We have been studying Tennessee."

Of the new collection, Timberlake said, "Obviously I love it. You wouldn't have seen it if I didn't love it."
